To open a Sharewatch Trading account you will need to complete the necessary forms and contract directly with Direct Sharedeal Ltd.

 

Your account is protected by the FSA Investors Compensation Scheme which is operated by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Your investments are protected in accordance with the limits applicable to the "protected investment business". The FSA changed the rules that govern compensation payments on 3 October 2008 to increase the total limit to £50,000. The limit came into effect on 7 October 2008. The compensation limit of £50,000 applies to each depositor for the total of their deposits with an organisation, regardless of how many accounts they hold or whether they are a single or joint account holder. In the case of a joint account, FSCS will assume that the money in that account is split equally between account holders, unless evidence shows otherwise.

 

This means that each account holder in a joint account would be eligible for compensation up to the maximum limit.
