GOLF CLUB CATERER
FREDERIC DESORMEAUX
On 28th August 2008
the catering at Douglas Golf Club was taken over by Frederic Desormeaux.
Fred had previously worked at Green’s Restaurant, initially as Head
Chef & later as overall Manager, responsible for all aspects of
kitchen & dining areas. During Fred’s tenure at Greene’s, the
restaurant earned excellent reviews from many Irish critics such as
Lucinda O’Sullivan & particularly Paolo Tullio of the Irish Independent.
Greenes was also acclaimed as an award winner in Food & Wine Magazine
2007 for the Munster region with commendations for Fred himself as
a Chef. His culinary skills have been recommended in the Michelin
Guide for 2008.

Shortly after taking up duty Fred was joined by his partner Sandy
Schoene to run & manage the “front of house”. Sandy has extensive
experience in catering, having trained & worked at the famous
Ballymaloe House.
Fred & Sandy intend providing the Members of Douglas Golf Club
with top class cuisine using the very best of fresh seasonal produce,
cooked to order, at all times. All soups & sauces are now home
made & delicious. Bread is freshly baked in the kitchen each day.
Tasty lunchtime snacks are also available & a special sandwich
menu has been introduced. The steak sandwich is to die for!
In addition to providing an excellent all day Sunday lunch, family
occasions can also be celebrated with fine dining at the Club. Children’s
menus are always available. In fact, Fred can offer a whole range
of menus to suit every occasion & budget. Members are assured
of a friendly welcome, excellent food & efficient service.
